Product care
Handmade pieces last longer with a little care. Here is how to look after a wreath and a candle.
How to make an advent wreath last longer
- Keep the wreath away from heat sources — radiators and underfloor heating dry the branches out within days.
- Mist it lightly with water once a day, ideally in the morning. Do not soak it; a fine mist is enough.
- If you can, move it somewhere cooler overnight — a balcony or hallway.
- Avoid direct sunlight; branches lose colour faster from sun than from cold.
- Never leave candles on the wreath unattended, and put them out before they burn down to the decoration.
- If individual branches turn brown, carefully pull them out — the wreath gains a few more days.
How to burn a soy candle properly
- The first burn matters most: let the top layer of wax melt all the way to the edge of the vessel, usually two to three hours. This prevents the candle from tunnelling later.
- Trim the wick to about 5 mm before every burn. A long wick soots and burns unevenly.
- Do not burn the candle for more than four hours at a time.
- Keep it away from draughts, flammable objects, children and pets.
- Stop using it when about 1 cm of wax is left — the vessel can otherwise overheat.
- Put it out with a lid or snuffer rather than blowing, so the wax does not splatter.
